Annual Battle – Jaguar PS vs Daventry PS

The annual battle between Jaguar and Daventry photographic societies is a friendly, though fiercely contested, competition between these two local clubs. The format is simple: each club submits 15 PDI images and 15 prints for evaluation and marking by an independent external judge. The venue for the competition alternates between the two club sites, which means the “home” side commands a higher number of club attendees. This year’s competition took place in Coventry and there were close to 20 JPS members to support the home entries.
John Haines was this year’s external judge, providing off-the cuff humour as well as insightful critique and improvement recommendations.
The PDI images were reviewed and evaluated during the first half of the evening, with Jaguar opening up a small lead over Daventry, with a possible score of 300 points for each side. The deciding second half, took place after a rest-break, during which friendly discussions were enjoyed between the visitors’ and home representatives.
The scores awarded for the print entries favoured Jaguar more strongly, providing a convincing win for JPS this time.

The winner’s trophy was handed back by last year’s winners Daventry PS to JPS and we look forward to the next battle in May 2027.
